The association Verein für aktive Vielfalt e.V. was founded in March 1991 as Verein für ambulante Versorgung Hohenschönhausen e.V. The association is a certified provider of child and youth welfare services.
It cooperates actively in the different expert committees and networks of the district as well as in specialized groups on a national level.
It is a member of DPW and the association for social-cultural work, Verband für sozial-kulturelle Arbeit, and co-founder of the Federal association of family centers, Bundesverband der Familienzentren.
The neighborhood center in the neighborhood house in the Ostseeviertel neighborhood emerged from a self-help meeting of the association. Intergenerational programs offer residents a wide range of opportunities for entertainment, sports activities, creative leisure activities and civic initiatives.
Since 1993, Ambulante Wohnhilfe has been providing profound socio-pedagogical assistance for people who are homeless or threatened by homelessness. The AWH also maintains nine sponsored apartments.
In their five daycare centers, the association offers qualified care for children between eight weeks and six years of age.
Since 2008, the association is sponsor of two youth clubs.
Two school centers help to support and encourage children and adolescents in the development of their personality and skills.
In the four family centers, the focus is on family education, on supporting and strengthening families, and on questions of parenting.
In their two senior citizens’ communal spaces, the association offers sports and cultural activities.
