Grips Theater

GRIPS founded “emancipatory theater”; it was the first theater in the world to deal with the lives and living conditions of children and young people in a socially critical way, and to produce comedic and musical original productions. GRIPS has continued to develop this idea for over 45 years with outstanding success and has always embraced new impulses and artistic styles. It is and remains a theater that wishes to encourage its audience that the world, both large and small, is, above all, a place to change.

GRIPS is a theater for all generations, cultures, and social classes. It sees itself as post-elitist and anti-pompous, a kind of modern popular and political people’s theater.
