DISTEL cabaret theater, founded in 1953 in the GDR and now long legendary because of its eventful history from state cabaret to private theater, is considered Germany’s top address for political satire.
Germany’s largest ensemble cabaret, located directly at Friedrichstraße S-Bahn station, plays 350 of its own shows per year on its stage as well as about 130 shows in the studio, which has existed as a second stage since 2010. Over 60 further guest performances throughout Germany complete the portfolio. Live music and excellent actresses and actors are considered the hallmarks of the cabaret, which sees itself as “sting at the government’s seat”.
