Ten years ago now, on April 5, 2012, five young people were abruptly attacked with firearms in Rudow. The perpetrator shot indiscriminately into the group. Burak Bektaş bled to death on site. Two of his companions were severely injured. The initiative to investigate the murder of Burak Bektaş suspects a racist motive for the crime. In view of the murder and also in light of the series of right-wing extremist attacks in the district of Neukölln, which has been going on for years, the initiative demands a comprehensive investigation.

On February 14, 2022, Burak Bektaş would have turned 32 years. To mark his birthday, a memorial event will be held at the memorial site in Berlin-Neukölln (Rudower Straße / Möwenweg) starting at 17:30. The call states:
On his birthday, we – friends, family, supporters and activists – will come together at the memorial site to lay flowers and commemorate Burak together. We wish to show how Burak is remembered.
