Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Landesverband Berlin e.V.

ASB is a voluntary aid organization and a welfare association – independent, politically neutral, and non-denominational. Its origins and history are closely linked to the German labor movement. It is committed to the free democratic and social constitutional state.

We help all people regardless of their political, ethnic, national or religious affiliation. Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund has been acting according to this principle since its foundation in 1888.

Today, the association has more than 1.2 million members nationwide. In Berlin, ASB is supported financially by around 50,000 people on a regular basis. In addition, about 1,200 people are active members and volunteer for ASB Berlin.

Through our projects and activities, people from the most diverse backgrounds come together, which we see as enrichment. A common goal of our projects is to promote solidarity in our society. At the same time, many of our volunteers and full-time employees have experienced migration. Fundamental values of freedom and democracy such as tolerance, freedom of expression, solidarity and humanity are not only a tradition in our association, but reality. We take a clear stance against xenophobia and discrimination in any form and are committed to solidarity in Berlin and around the world.
